BANJUL –Dr Babagana Ahmadu, the country representative of the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) in The Gambia, has hailed President Jammeh’s efforts in agricultural, noting that his leadership is extraordinary and needs to be emulated by all African leaders for the betterment of the continent.

Dr Ahmadu made this statement in an interview with the Daily Observer’s LRR correspondent last weekend at the ongoing two-week capacity building training for personnel of the Forestry and Wildlife Department at the Agricultural Rural Farmers Training Centre in Jenoi, in Jarra West, the Lower River Region. According to him, President Jammeh has ever been serving as a source of inspiration not only to Gambians but the world as a whole. He said President Jammeh has proven to be one of the most famous farmers not only in The Gambia, but also beyond the country.

He went on to state that from the FAO analysis of the agricultural situation in The Gambia, it is very encouraging as the country is top in agricultural production which is the machinery driving the economy. According to the FAO boss, the progress that The Gambia registered in agriculture over the past few years did not happen by accident but through concerted efforts under the leadership of President Jammeh, all geared towards improving the lives of the people and eradicating poverty, malnutrition and hunger in the Gambia. He then cited the back-to-the-land call as a great move noting that he [President Jammeh] is in fact taking the lead which has been manifested by his Kanilai farms. He then called on people to agriculture seriously for the benefit.
