Israel’s March of Death Is One of Self-Destruction
By Editorial Staff Writer
Suppose one were completely dependent on mainstream Western news media for their understanding of the current state of affairs in the Middle East. In that case, one might believe that October 7, 2023, was the catalyst for a conflict that Israel is conducting in justifiable retaliation for an unprovoked assault on its territory.
A cursory glance at history will, however, reveal that the Zionist occupation of Palestine and surrounding areas is a decades-long march of death and destruction perpetrated against sovereign nations. One does not need to look deeply into the past to find the near-constant provocations the Zionists are responsible for against their neighbors. Those who continue to pretend the current genocide taking place in and around Gaza is a reaction to October 7, 2023, would do well to ask themselves when was the renowned Palestinian Journalist Shireen Abu Akleh senselessly gunned down by Israeli Defense Forces. Here’s a hint: it was on May 11, 2022, well before October 2023. We can add to the list of pre-Oct 2023 Zionist oppression the years-long siege of Gaza, which has strangled the territory of essential needs, causing widespread suffering; decades of wanton destruction of Palestinian homes and property, and the building of illegal Israeli settlements in their places; the raiding of Masjid Al-Aqsa during Ramadan 2021; the 2014 war; regular assassinations; a long list of massacres, as well as regular humiliation of Palestinians of all ages and religions in a textbook system of apartheid.
Despite these painfully obvious facts of Israeli aggression and oppression, our own government officials often repeat tiresome lines about “Israel’s right to defend itself,” as if to suggest that the people of the world are so devoid of intellectual capacity as to believe that the wanton bomb and other artillery attacks on hospitals, schools, refugee camps constructed of tents, shops, residential housing, funeral processions, and playgrounds – in addition to blatant, unmistakable attempts to erase the very humanity of its neighbors through its incessant propaganda – constitute “self-defense”.
Such mischaracterizations by Zionist-backed news organizations are numerous and serve a central purpose: to dehumanize Palestinians and, in a wider sense, Muslims as a whole.
If Israel’s desire to provoke a clash of civilizations, primarily through a war between the US and Iran, was supposed to be clandestine, it is not. The people of the world and much of the US see through this scheme for what it is: a game in which most of the lives and wealth to be spent in its pursuit will be Muslim and American, and the spoils go to neither.
The issuing of an arrest warrant for the Zionist butcher, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, is a sign that the wider world may be waking up to the unsustainability of Israel’s belligerence, and recognizing that despite the rhetoric from powerful nations, might does not equal right, and genocide anywhere is a stain of shame on humans everywhere.
The Israeli war march is a grave miscalculation by the Zionists, however, based on what they perceive as past successes and the prevalence of thinking, which is, in fact, no longer dominant among many Western populations. The truth is that people from East to West are growing fed up with Zionist abuse and see a better path forward for humanity than constant war and destruction hidden behind the weak and amoral logic of justifiable sub-human behavior. Soon, the Zionists may well find themselves in a situation where few or none will support their crimes, and they must, therefore, collapse under the weight of their own evils.
