Herbs to Rejuvenate the Kidneys
We have all heard the expression, “You are what you eat.” Actually, it is more accurately, “You are what you digest”. You are what your body can process, utilize, and derive benefit from. Processed foods, denatured foods, and fake foods, destroy the health of the organs in your body. The organ being discussed at this time is the kidneys. The kidneys are the most important organ in maintaining homeostasis, or regulating the body functions. When the kidneys are not working properly, the whole body suffers. Excess poisons and infections in the body cause most kidney malfunctions. Poisons that are not removed regularly and in a timely manner will pollute the system, and turn into infectious illnesses.
The kidneys are a part of the urinary system. They maintain fluid levels, electrolytes, and acid balance. They eliminate waste and produce a hormone that stimulates red blood cell production. However, the kidneys can lose over 80 percent of their functioning ability before any symptoms may appear. This is why kidney disease is well advanced before it is diagnosed and why it is so important to keep them healthy.
If you are suffering from kidney illness at present, it is better to slowly reverse with internal cleansing. Kidneys that are filled with bacteria, or accumulated toxins need to have a slower method of detoxification. This will insure that a gradual cleansing will take place. Drinking lemon water upon rising, or dandelion tea is a slower method. It is always advisable to flush the kidneys with lots of water, on a daily basis. A natural foods diet should be adapted. This will restore the kidneys back to good health.
Always be conscience of what you eat. Be cautious when eating out anywhere, unless you are aware of all of the ingredients within the food you are being served. Guard your health. Work hard to be well and stay well.
A well tested remedy to cleanse the kidneys safely and mildly is the following:
1 quart pure apple juice (organic apples)
2 ounces hydrangea roots chopped up
Soak hydrangea roots and the apple juice overnight in a glass or stainless steel pot. In the morning put the pot on the stove and bring to a boil. Simmer this mixture for 30 minutes. Let it cool, strain out the roots and bottle it. Put it in the refrigerator. Drink a capful 2 to 3 times a day. You can also use a hydrangea root tincture (non-alcoholic), add 30 drops of the tincture in a cup of organic apple juice. Both of the above mixtures will, with the permission of The Almighty, dissolve kidney stones also, and improve the health of the urinary system. Gravel root can also be used, together with the hydrangea or instead of it.
Here are a few more herbs that can be used for kidney ailments:
Marshmallow root helps fight urinary tract infection, parsley flushes the kidneys and also reduces kidney stones, juniper berries are used as diuretics, gotu kola, watermelon seeds, and celery prevent kidney stones. Asparagus, corn silk, milk thistle, Hawthorne, oregano, horse tail, and red clover cleanse the blood. Yarrow is an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory herb; and the herb nettle benefits the blood by treating urinary tract infection; it also cleanses the kidneys by flushing away infection.
Cranberries, blueberries, red grapes, pumpkin seeds, aloe vera juice, apple cider vinegar, ginger, turmeric, and apples are also great foods to eat to improve kidney functions.
Drinking parsley tea 2 or 3 times a week helps to keep a balance. Any of the herbs above can be made into and consumed as a tea to insure good urinary system health. Also green tea, camellia sinensis (zingiberaceae) this is one of the best green teas; it helps the liver and the kidneys. Java tea, orthosiphon aristatus (lamiaceae) increases the kidneys ability to eliminate nitrogen, treats kidney stones, kidney infection, and renal function.
Keeping the kidneys healthy requires extra thought. Remembering to drink good, clean water often and using herbs to speed up the healing process is the key. We often take for granted our good health. This is a big mistake that many of us make. Thank Allah for your health always!
