Mistranslating the Words of Allah, Most High in Holy Qur’an is a Crime

The Holy Qur'an is the ‘Word of Allah’ and this Divine book was revealed in the Arabic language.  It is obligatory for those who wish to fully understand Holy Qur'an to study and know Arabic well, otherwise, one would not have scratched the surface of it's meaning. The Holy Qur'an was sent down to the Holy Last Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) not only as guidance for mankind, but as the fountainhead of all knowledge. Arabic, at the time of the revelation of the Holy Qur’an, was the richest language on the face of the earth and still is today.

There are many translations of Holy Qur'an that have been undertaken in order to give Muslims who don't speak Arabic a chance to understand some of what the Holy Qur'an teaches. These translations are far from perfect and should only be taken as an attempt to give a basic understanding of the Divine Text. Some of these translations were not even written by Islamic scholars; instead, these people maliciously or ignorantly misinterpreted the Holy Qur'an.

The munafiqun and the Jews,on countless occasions throughout history, tried to change the Words of Allah, the Most High, for their own selfish benefit. To change the Words of Allah is a heinous crime and those who commit this crime, Allah the Most High says of them in Surah Maidah, Ayah 41: He "does not intend to purify their hearts. For them in this world is disgrace, and for them in the hereafter is a grievous punishment."

One recent example of this is the The Qur'an DVD series for reciter Muhammad Khalil Al Husary, in which very derogatory words are used in the translation of Suratul Duha when referencing Rasulullah (peace be upon him). In this series’ translation of Suratul Duha, line number seven, “wa wajadaka dhaalin fa hada”, this line is translated as: "We have found you in search of Allah, and We showed you the way" or “You were looking for a way, and you didn't know it, We showed you". Additionally, this flawed translation uses words like, “We found him distracted…”, when words like "distracted" are used when describing mental patients. This is totally and completely incorrect, as clarified by the best commentators of Holy Qur'an. The appropriate translation of this ayah or line means: “and We found you unaware of the laws that are not easily understood.” The videos containing these erroneous and misleading translations should be immediately confiscated!

In Arabic, one word may have many, many meanings depending on context, situation, speaker and audience being addressed. Due to the richness of the Arabic language and the perfect dialect spoken by the Meccan Arabs, the Holy Qur'an was revealed in this most perfect style and beautiful language so unique and incomparable, that even the Arab scholars of that time were astounded!  The Holy Qur'an can only be understood by using the language in which it was revealed.

Today, there is much evil being perpetrated by those who target the Holy Qur'an and distort its meanings.  Previously, there were similar incorrect translations of Holy Qur'an by Jamiat-ul-Qur'an, an organization that is selling their imperfect products to western countries such as America, without any right to do so. By claiming to be of Ahli Bait –  the blessed family of the Holy Last Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) – many Holy Qur'ans are printed with translations taken out of context. Yet, they were paid to kill Ahli Bait, to lead people in error- English speaking people who can’t read in Arabic. Due to their misguiding, misinterpretation, and misleading in the name of Holy Qur’an, such people are worse than Terry Jones, who tried to burn the Holy Qur’an.

One of the miracles of the Holy Qur'an is that innumerable populations of Muslims have memorized it since the time of the Holy Last Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in order to preserve the Words of Allah in their original state. This will continue until the Last Day, as Allah the Most High has promised in His Qur'an:

If you are in doubt about what We have revealed to Our servant, then bring a Surah similar to this, and do call your supporters other than Allah, if you are true. But if you do not – and you will never be able to – then guard yourselves against the Fire, the fuel of which will be men and stones. It has been prepared for disbelievers.” (Surah Baqara, ayat 23,24)
