In an overwhelming vote of 96 to 0, the US Senate passed an amendment for a one-time audit of the Federal Reserve, the first audit of its type conducted since September 2008.
According to the New York Times, the Office of Government Accountability is to examine approximately $2 trillion in emergency loans that the Federal Reserve provided to the some of the nation’s biggest banks.

The audit would require scrutiny of the Federal Reserve’s emergency operations starting from December 1, 2007.

On December 25 US authorities arrested a Nigerian named Abdulmutallab aboard a Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit on charges of having tried to blow up the plane with smuggled explosives. Since then reports have been broadcast from CNN, the New York Times and other sources that he was "suspected" of having been trained in Yemen for his terror mission.

James V. Caruso plans to begin marketing a drug named Folotyn in January for T-cell lymphoma, a rare and usually aggressive blood cancer for which he claims patients have “no options.”

A one month treatment using Folotyn costs: $30,000, according to the New York Times (NYT), which Caruso says is “fairly priced,” and “benchmarked” against other drugs marketed for cancer, which also run into the thousands.
