The world tends to turn a blind eye to the continued distress of a people when the spotlight of the media and the bold headlines desist, but the International Qur’anic Open University has steadied the course, not only dispatching the American Muslim Medical Relief Team (AMMRT) within hours of a catastrophic event, but by providing continuous support months or years after the world has forgotten the tragedy even while victims still suffer.

The American Muslims of the International Qur’anic Open University (IQOU) have received support from the citizens of Pakistan who are outraged after release of details in the latest example of maltreatment by the government of Pakistan towards IQOU staff when attempting to obtain their travel visas. In this latest occurrence, members of IQOU’s American Muslim Medical Relief Team (AMMRT) were harassed, treated harshly and denied approval to travel to a country where these same American Muslims have a known history of humanitarian service that spans over thirty years.

Not once has the Pakistani government expressed a word of gratefulness or appreciation for the selfless sacrifice of the Vice Chancellor of the International Qur’anic Open University, His Eminence El Sheikh Syed Mubarik Ali Shah Gilani, and his dedicated staff.

As a member of the Muslims of the Americas Department of Health and Wellness, we are always concerned with the well-being of every member of our communities, regardless of faith. For this reason, we expend great effort in trying to keep the public informed of helpful tips regarding disease and preventive health maintenance. Currently, the topics of obesity and diet are prevalent in healthcare; therefore, we are particularly mindful in sharing beneficial information regarding these.

I have recently received numerous requests for an effective diet plan and consequently, I have compiled a list of things that I have recommended in the past, and which you must know and implement in order to be successful in dieting. Over the years, this information has brought a great deal of success to many who have put it into practice.

Spring is upon us again and we can prepare the soil for tilling and the fields for planting. We can also aid our bodies to clean themselves internally. During this season, when our bodies are naturally removing the winter wastes and preparing for warmer weather, it would be advantageous to your metabolism, if you ate “live food”. This would aid your body in removing winter sludge. Eat foods that have high nu-trient and vitamin content. Eat foods that are organic, and naturally packed with life- rendering energy, such as beets, wheat grass, barley grass (always drink any kind of grass juice on an empty stomach and wait 30-45 minute before eating anything solid for maximum effectiveness), fresh collard juice, spinach and all green, leafy vegetables. The word vitamin literally means “union of vitality”. Live foods are needed to maintain good health; however, it is very popular to use vitamin supplements. Vitamin supplements are synthetic. There have been millions of au-topsies recording large clumps of vitamin supplements lodged within the colon walls which have not been fully digested. If you must use, them use liquid vitamins and make sure they are of natural substances.

Cranberries are a very festive, holiday food, native to North America, and four-hundred-million pounds are used each year. Native Indians were the first to harvest them, mixing the berries with deer, elk or bison meat to make a survival food called “Pemmican”, similar to beef jerky.

Whenever anyone sees blood they are frightened because this usually signals something serious is happening. One rarely thinks of blood, unless it is seen.

Whenever anyone sees blood they are frightened because this usually signals something serious is happening. One rarely thinks of blood, unless it is seen.

The blood pumping through the veins is the lifeline. It distributes oxygen, nutrients, and hormones throughout the body, while removing waste and toxins from the system.
It is in the blood where the body’s main immune system defenses – the protection from illness and infection– are located.

In parts of Asia, Africa and Latin America, particularly Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Paraguay and Peru, peasants and indigenous farmers are losing tens of millions of hectares of their fertile farmland to foreign states and private sector investors. These invaders, representing large banks and agribusiness corporations are grabbing the land from their rightful owners and using it to produce food and fuel, primarily for export, not with a concern for reducing worldwide poverty, but moreso to gain profit.

Digestion of food is essential to the well being of everyone. Without proper digestion we invite countless illnesses to visit us. Digestion begins in the mouth, by chewing food down to the tiniest morsel possible. Most people are in such a rush to eat that they do not chew their food properly and the end result is acid reflex, indigestion, or heartburn. The pre-mentioned maladies can also come from eating poor food combinations, microwaved foods, or processed food daily. When you begin to digest your food you change it from one form into another: it is a physical and chemical process.

What is needed to prevent this illness, is the knowledge of what causes it exactly. Here are a few things that can cause Alzheimer’s disease:

Alzheimer’s disease became well known in 1906 when German physician Alois Alzheimer became dismayed over one of his patient’s behavior. She had come to him in 1901 for treatment. She was a 51 year old woman who had become very confused. She developed problems with speaking and understanding what was being said to her. He worked hard to try to help her, however all of his efforts failed. Her symptoms worsened, and she passed away. He had so many unanswered questions that he requested permission from her family to do an autopsy. The autopsy revealed many things.

Vitamins, minerals and supplements are now considered toxic and therefore harmful and have been banned. A commission sponsored by the United Nations Health Organization, and supported by the U.S Food and Drug Administration have banned over the counter herbs, minerals, and supplements.

As the ball was dropped in Times Square in N.Y symbolizing a new year, so too were the veils lifted on December 31, 2009 when a new law that prohibits all God given natural and healing herbs, foods, and food by-products went into effect. The truth in this case is stranger than fiction. Vitamins, minerals and supplements are now considered toxic and therefore harmful and have been banned. 4. Midwifery is one of the oldest alternative therapies in existence. Since the beginning of time, women have always looked for the more experienced and knowledgeable woman for help during childbirth. Though hospital births are the norm today, midwives have delivered most of the worlds babies. Certified Nurse Midwives (C.N.M) often work in hospitals and clinics along side conventional Obstetricians. In the United States, and much of the developed world, a license is required to deliver babies.

Cold and flu season has finally arrived, and it is very likely your immune system is in battle. Ever-present viral and bacterial agents are constantly waiting to attack healthy cells. There are also many man made germs and chemicals that are major contributors to our illnesses; however, during the winter months many people suffer from flu and allergy symptoms too. Recently flues are more resistant now and have become harder to cure. Admittedly trying to avoid a cold is hard work, but there are ways to combat illness by eating proper foods and utilizing herbs that introduce heat and healing to the system.
