Congratulations Extended to New Group of Al-Azhar Students

The International Qur’anic Open University staff and students sent their best wishes with the six travelers who arrived at Al Azhar University in Cairo from John F. Kennedy airport in New York in the latter half of February to commence their advanced studies in Arabic and Islamic sciences.

Abdul Rahim Harleston, Naib Ibrahim Smith, Amir Mujahid, Ibrahim Caba, Jalil Lang and Hussain A. Muqit were welcomed by other members of the Muslims of the Americas currently matriculating at Al Azhar.

Editorial: Stop Terrorizing The World

According to Chris Hedges, “An Arab American, Syed Fahad Hashmi, made provocative statements, including calling America “the biggest terrorist in the world.” That led to his arrest and prosecution on trumped up charges, in much the same way that Professor Sami al-Aryan lost his job and freedom for being an outspoken critic of US and Israeli policy.

Editorial: An Urgent Appeal Against the Killing of Innocent Civilians

This is an urgent appeal for the sake of the American people and the future of this great nation to take a very careful look at the dangerous situation brewing in the Asian Region due to the constant barrage of destruction and devastation by CIA manipulated drones, most often launched in the hunt for ‘suspected’, or ‘believed to be’ Taliban; when in actuality, these barrages are killing innocent men, women and children, causing wholesale demolition of schools, communities, townships, and villages, and producing no concrete results of thwarting Taliban activities or their suicide bombings.

International Qur’anic Open University ‘Allow Education of Unsuspecting Public about Avatar’

Movies, like Avatar, only cause psychological damage and encourage suicide and abnormal behavior for the uninformed of what the reality truly is. As stated, we need the means to reach the masses and to get our message out. One cannot help but wonder what the motives are for producing and releasing such movies churned out by Hollywood that only serve to teach foul language and entices viewers to adopt socially unacceptable conduct.

(IQOU PRESS RELEASE) In a recent CNN report, attention was drawn to the fact that some viewers of the movie Avatar have lost touch with reality and are experiencing bouts with severe depression and are hence strongly considering suicide. The director of the movie, James Cameron, stated that Avatar may have been a little too real for some fans who say they have experienced depression and suicidal thoughts after seeing the film because they long to enjoy the beauty of the alien world, Pandora.
