Sponsored by Asheville, Charlotte, Durham and Raleigh Martin Luther King Committees in collaboration with The North Carolina Martin Luther King Resource Center, preparations are underway for the 10th Annual Martin Luther King Civil Rights Heritage Tour. The tour will be traveling to Cincinnati, Ohio; Atlanta, Georgia; Selma, Tuskegee, Montgomery, and Birmingham, Alabama; and to Memphis, Tennessee to retrace the steps of Dr. King and other civil rights heroes.

Representative Kucinich plans to submit two resolutions as soon as congress comes back in January to attempt to use the War Powers Act to withdraw all US troops and military contractors from Iraq and Afghanistan.

“We’re acting like a latter-day version of the Roman Empire ...while inside we rot.,” Ohio Congressman, Dennis Kucinich, recently told Amy Goodman of Democracy Now!, while voicing his opposition to the troop buildup in Afghanistan.

“I think that all those who really support this President, who really like him—and I like him—need to challenge him on this,” said Mr Kucinich.

It is too soon to have forgotten about the day 39 year old Army Major and psychiatrist Nidal Malik Hasan allegedly killed 13 and wounded 31 others. During the commemoration of Veterans Day, just days after the shootings, President Obama encouraged Americans to remember those whose lives were lost, as well as those who were injured in the tragedy at the army base located in Fort Hood, Texas.
