Chadian President Idriss Deby met with his Sudanese counterpart Omar Hassan al-Bashir in Khartoum this week in what could be a breakthrough moment in the easing of relations between the two countries.

The two have announced that they will work towards peace within their troubled border areas. Chad has long-accused its eastern neighbor of granting safe harbor to opposition militias, and Sudan claims Chad supports certain Darfuri rebel groups. Another round of Darfur peace talks are under way in Doha, although no breakthrough has yet been announced.

Congressman Murtha “passed away peacefully this afternoon. … At his bedside was his family,” a statement from Murtha spokesman Matt Mazonkey said. Murtha had recently undergone gall bladder surgery and was hospitalized Feb. 2 after complications with his recovery. On Feb. 6 – two days before his death — Murtha passed the mark as Pennsylvania’s longest serving member of Congress, representing the 12th district since 1974.

Recently I was surprised to discover that many participants at a conference in Washington DC could not locate the Caribbean on a map. Some said it was close to Africa while others simply believed that the Caribbean was a sun, sea and sand destination that was somewhere out there. This definition of the physical boundaries of the Caribbean should therefore shed some light on the physical location of Caribbean neighbors.

DUBAI–Israeli media ridiculed the state’s intelligence service Mossad and its president who was believed to have ordered the recent assassination of a top Hamas military commander in Dubai. In late February, the newspapers published a series of cartoons mocking the way the murder of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was carried out on Jan. 20, although the Mossad has long being a symbol of national pride in Israel for its accomplishments in clearing dozens of people deemed enemies of the Jewish state.

The Alaska chapter of the United Muslim Christian Forum (UMCF) membership has extended its community service mission to become volunteers with the American Red Cross in Anchorage, Alaska. Some members are now attending classes, receiving specific training that will allow them to be of valuable assistance in the community in times of crisis. The course, entitled “Client Casework,” which normally takes 9 hours, was condensed into 3 hours, and will equip them to be at the ready, providing emergency services, when needed.

Digestion of food is essential to the well being of everyone. Without proper digestion we invite countless illnesses to visit us. Digestion begins in the mouth, by chewing food down to the tiniest morsel possible. Most people are in such a rush to eat that they do not chew their food properly and the end result is acid reflex, indigestion, or heartburn. The pre-mentioned maladies can also come from eating poor food combinations, microwaved foods, or processed food daily. When you begin to digest your food you change it from one form into another: it is a physical and chemical process.
