Spring has arrived, the moment when buds emerge from trees and buds emerge from trees and grasses push through soil. The signs of Allah, Glorious is He, are ever present, and coming to life. Cleansing the body is an integral part of spring. During the winter months an excess of carbon dioxide, uric acid and other chemical wastes accumulate in one’s system. If you weren’t sweating and burning calories this winter, you may require help pushing toxins out of the body – as soon as possible.
Spring tonics do not stress the body as drugs do, they simply restore the body to its proper balance. There are many recipes and beneficial herbs to choose from. Here are a few that may even be growing in your backyard.
1. Poke weed
The fresh green leaves, high in vitamins, are usually cooked in early spring the same as spinach or collard greens. In the South the leaves are called poke salad. However, the leaves become bitter and toxic in the mid summer months.
2. Red Raspberry
This tonic herb is high in vitamin A and C and is use all year round. It is soothing to the mucus membrane and kidneys. It is rich in iron and niacin. It contains potassium and trace minerals also. It is also beneficial to ladies.
3. Nettle
This tonic is also a pot herb and assists the body in the detoxification of chemicals and heavy metals.

*It has anti-inflammatory capacities and helps with many symptoms related to arthritis, bursitis, tendinitis, and gout.

*It contains natural antihistamines which is wonderful for hay fever and allergies.
4. Dandelion
Dandelion leaf and root have the ability to extract heavy metals from tissues. They also support the liver by stimulating the production of bile. It is also scientifically proven to eliminate Cancer cells.
5. Horseradish
This herb improves digestion. It is a disinfectant for the respiratory tract. It is a lymphatic cleanser. It can be prepared by grating a small amount into carrot juice and drinking this mixture 2x a day.
6. Black Seed (Kalonji)
In his book, Canon of Medicine, Avicenna, the Hakim, states that black seed increases energy. It helps with gynecological disorders. It acts as a stimulant and helps with recovery from fatigue. It relieves gas, bloating, and expels parasites. It is a diuretic. It raises the hemoglobin levels. It contains the essential oil thymoquinone. It also lowers the blood pressure. This herb is know to cure everything except death.
